Our class subjects include Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Music, Physical Education, Visual Art and more… We have two dedicated science classrooms. Our Elementary science classroom is a proud partner with New York Sun Works. New York Sun Works program titled The Greenhouse Project develops science labs that are equipped with hydroponic farming technology in order to provide year-round hands-on, project-based environmental science education for K-12 grade students in urban schools. Our Middle School science classroom was recently renovated by City at Work. City at Work is a NYCDOE contracted vendor that has transformed spaces for teaching and learning into awe-inspiring classrooms for wonder, curiosity, and engaged scholarship.
As a New York City Magnet School, our goal is to develop and implement curricula that is in alignment with the applied life sciences. The Applied Life Sciences aim to use the scientific method and knowledge obtained via conclusions to help and improve the quality and standard of life.
At 121, we use the scientific method to examine real-world problems by integrating Project-Based Learning into our units of study across all grades. Students develop hypotheses, experiment, analyze data and use their unique identities to create personal and practical solutions. For an in depth look at our units of study check out the Grade-by-Grade Information tab on our website!
